Baghdad : The Multi-National Force (MNF) said in a statement Tuesday that Iraqi Police reported a drive-by shooting in the Sheikh Umar neighbourhood, in the eastern Baghdad district of Rusafa Monday.
“Three special group criminals opened fire on the New Baghdad police station from a passing civilian sedan. The vehicle was engaged by the Iraqi police with precision fire and flipped over, resulting in one special group criminal killed and two wounded,” it said.
The three criminals were taken to the Al-Kindi Hospital.
“The Iraqi police heroically defended themselves and the Iraqi people when they returned fire from special groups criminals,” said Lt- Col Steve Stover, spokesmen, MND-B and 4th Inf. Div.
“They showed increased capability by remaining calm under fire, returning precision fire, and defeating an enemy attack.”
