Berlin : The German Foreign Ministry announced on Wednesday that a citizen went missing in the Afghanistan two weeks ago, adding that a crisis council had been formed to follow up on the issue.
The ministry spokesperson was speaking to reporters after the daily “Die Welt” reported today that a German national of Afghan origin was missing and that his family had informed the embassy in Kabul of this.
The spokesperson added that the ministry was in contact with the embassy in Kabul and Afghan authorities to seek clarification over the situation, adding that no demands for ransom had been made, nor blackmail reported.
Another German had been kidnapped in Afghanistan last year, and was released by his abductors in December 2007.
