Maulvi Omer, spokesman for Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), or Pakistan Alban Movement, said the blast was the response to the military operation in northwestern region, private Geo TV reported.

A powerful remote control bomb targeting an air force truck was detonated in Peshawar, capital of North West Frontier Province (NWFP), killing at least 13 persons and injuring 11 others on Tuesday morning, Inspector General of Police Malik Naveed Khan told reporters.

The blast occurred when a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) truck was heading to a base near Peshawar.

Pakistan’s security force is now carrying out military operations against Taliban militants in the NWFP’s Swat valley and Bajaur tribal agency.

Reports said the security force on Tuesday killed 10 more militants in its one-week long operation in northwestern Pakistan’s tribal region.

The TTP spokesman also threatened to launch more attacks against the army if the military operation was not stopped.
