Mumbai lady physician wins Rs.78.7 mn jackpot

Mumbai : Mumbai physician Kirti Patel won a whopping Rs.78.7 million in Playwin’s Sikkim Saturday Super Lotto Jackpot making her the city’s highest lottery winner till date.

Kirti, 38, lives in Santacruz with her husband Ashok, also a physician, and their two school-going children.

When contacted for comments on her cell phone, a family member of Kirti said she was “completely overwhelmed by the jackpot win” and plans a thanksgiving prayer at a relative’s home.

The source said Kirti plans to buy a flat in the upmarket Bandra locality of the city with the prize money.

“With the skyrocketing real estate prices, until now the family just dreamt of living in Bandra, now it is within their reach,” the source said. Kirti was declared the winner July 26.

The July 26 draw started May 26, 2007 with an initial roll of Rs.20 million. It rolled on for 14 months till Kirti won the jackpot.

The Playwin Online lottery has so far generated 64 multi-millionaires and over 2,800 millionaires till date, said Amar Singh, CEO and managing director of Pan India Network Infravest Pvt Ltd.

“The winning jackpot is always a product of chance and we encourage participants to take a chance on the Super Lotto. The luck factor may just be on their side,” Singh said
