Kathmandu : Chairman Prachanda of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) (CPN-M) was nominated on Thursday to compete for the post of first prime minister of the federal republic of Nepal, local media reported.
According to local FM radio station Kantipur, former prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba from the Nepali Congress (NC) was also filed as another nominee for the prime minister post of the world’s youngest republic.
Further more, a meeting among the single largest party in the Constituent Assembly (CA) CPN-M, the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN-UML), the third largest CA party and the fourth, Madhesi People’s Rights Forum (MPRF) on Thursday reached an agreement to field the CPN-M chairman Prachanda, as a joint candidate for the post of prime minister.
The seats the three parties held in the CA is far more than the simple majority for Prachanda to be the first prime minister of the republic.
