Jammu : Pakistani troops opened fire in Saujian sector in Poonch along the Line of Control (LoC) that divides Jammu and Kashmir between India and Pakistan Thursday, army sources said.
The Indian troops retaliated to the “unprovoked fire from across the LoC”, the army source said.
However, there was no casualty reported from either side in the exchange of fire that lasted for more than 20 minutes.
“It appears that the Pakistani troops wanted to cause and escalate tensions by repeatedly violating the ceasefire,” a senior official of the Indian Army said, requesting anonymity.
There have been more than 20 incidents of ceasefire violation on the LoC, the officer said.
