Indian, Pakistani activists in candlelight vigil at border

Attari border (Punjab) : Peace activists from India and Pakistan Thursday night kept a candlelight vigil at the Attari-Wagah land border. It was for the first time that activists from Pakistan reciprocated the annual gesture from the Indians.

Over 40 peace activists from Pakistan led by human rights activists Asma Jehangir and others lit up candles on the Pakistan side.

They were, however, not allowed to come near the border gates by the Pakistan Rangers.

On the Indian side, veteran journalist Kuldip Nayar, Amritsar Lok Sabha MP Navjot Singh Sidhu and several others marched in a candlelight procession upto the border.

A colourful cultural and musical show was organised on the Indian side.
