The campaign now has 65.8 million dollars on hand.

More than two million people have now contributed to Obama’s race for the White House, his campaign announced Saturday.

“The 65,000 new donors to the Obama campaign demonstrate just how strongly the American people are looking to fundamentally change business as usual in Washington,” said David Plouffe, campaign manager of Obama for America.

Many of the donors contribute relatively small amounts, making it easy for the campaign to repeatedly return to them for assistance.

In June, Obama raised $52 million in donations, which was $30 million more than his Republican rival John McCain. This followed the record $55 million – the highest for a single month – he raised in February.
