Bhopal : A cabinet meeting chaired by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan here today decided to extend the term of three inquiry commissions.
As per the decision, term of commissions set up to go into firing incident in J.P. Cement Factory premises in Rewa, irregularities in Social Security Pension and National Old Age Pension Scheme and death of deputy secretary Commercial Taxes R. K. Jain.
The commission to investigate irregularities in Social Security Pension and National Old Age Pension Scheme was constituted in February, 2008. It is headed by Justice N. K. Jain. The cabinet has decided extend by six months in the term of the commissioner from June 2008 as well as application of all the provisions of sub-sections 2-3-4 and 5 of Section 5 of Inquiry Commission Act 1952.
One person was killed in the firing incident in J.P. Cement Factory premises in Rewa on September 22, 2007 and some persons were injured. A commission was constituted to investigate this incident on October 31, 2007. Its term was of three months. The cabinet has decided to extend the commission’s term up to December 31, 2008.
The cabinet has endorsed the decision to extend the term of inquiry commission to probe the death of deputy secretary Commercial Taxes R. K. Jain up to February 3, 2009.
Deputy secretary Commercial Taxes R. K. Jain was arrested by Special Police Establishment of the Lokayukta, Bhopal on July 15, 2004 while accepting bribe of Rs. 3000. The Special Police Establishment had admitted Jain to Hamidia Hospital, where doctors treated him. But Jain died the same day. The one-man judicial commission to inquire his death was constituted in August 2004. ([email protected])
