Markets sag as day’s trade ends

Mumbai : A key index of the Indian equities markets dipped Friday before close to lose some of the gains of the day.

The 30-share Sensitive Index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 10,001.33 points, fell during the last minutes to close at 10,099.91 points (provisional), 23.48 points or 0.23 percent higher than Thursday’s close of 10,076.43 points.

The broader-based 50-share S&P CNX Nifty also closed with gains of 16.75 points or 0.55 percent to end the day’s trade at 3,077.50 points.

Broader market indices were again outperforming the Sensex, with the midcap index rising 1.85 percent higher than its previous close, while the smallcap index rose 0.86 percent compared to Thursday’s close.
