The blast, caused by an improvised explosive device (IED), occurred in southern Afghanistan Friday evening, said ISAF spokesperson Captain Mark Windser.

“Our sincere condolences and deepest sympathies are with the families and friends of the brave soldiers who died, especially at this time of the year,” said the spokesperson.

Names and nationalities of the soldiers were not released.

However, local officials said the dead soldiers were Danish, noting that the explosion took place in Afghanistan’s southern province of Helmand.

A four soldier sustained injuries in the blast, they added.

On Friday, ISAF had announced the death of one soldier in the same troubled southern zone. Name and nationality of the soldier was not released.
