Second Test: Dense fog delays start of fourth day’s play

Mohali (Punjab) : A thick blanket of fog enveloped the whole region here, causing another delay in the start of the fourth day’s play of the second Test of RBS Cup between India and England here.

The match was scheduled to start at 9 a.m. Monday. But at 10 a.m., umpires Asad Rauf and Daryl Harper were assessing the situation on the field.

Similar conditions prevailed in the area Sunday and delayed the third day’s start by 90 minutes.

At the end of third day’s play here at Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) stadium, England was 282 runs for the loss of six wickets after 73 overs. With four wickets remaining, England still trail by 171 runs India’s first innings total of 453.

Monday morning, the fog spread over most of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh.
