After attending a UN Conference on Disarmament in Geneva, the Russian minister considered irresponsible the intention by a group of countries to recognize the unilateral independence of that Serbian province, and affirmed that decision weakens international law.

Moscow will use all legal ways possible to avoid violation of international law, and will not recognize Kosovo’s autonomy or its adhesion to international organizations such as the UN, Voz de Russia radio station quoted Lavrov as saying.

Recognizing that Serbian province as independent would be a violation of the principles of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, which are contained in the UN Charter, he sustained.

Referring to the countries in favor of Albanian Kosovo separatists, Lavrov highlighted that they are ignoring the chain reaction such a decision would cause in many zones of Europe and the world.
