Ahmedabad : Gujarat will make the pitch for substantial Japanese investment inflow at the Destination India Conference to be held in Tokyo Feb 19. Industries Commissioner Gauri Kumar, who is part of the Indian delegation, will represent the state in the meet.
The Indian team, led by union Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath, will leave for Japan Sunday. Apart from senior government officials, the delegation comprises several members of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).
K.K. Modi, former president of FICCI and chairman of the Modi Group of Industries, would lead the federation team.
Kumar, during her stay, will make a detailed presentation on Gujarat describing its investment friendly climate and infrastructure facilities.
She will also hold talks with business groups as well as organisations involved in promoting Japanese investments abroad.
On Feb 7, a team of 49 Japanese businessmen had held talks with high-ranked Gujarat officials in Ahmedabad on investment proposals for projects to be undertaken in the state segment of the ambitious $90 billion Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor Project (DMIC).
In the meeting, the Japanese team asked the government to allot land for building integrated townships in the Surat-Dahej segment.
