Pune : Very soon kids will be learning science with the help of creepy-crawly bugs. A Pune-based software company Harbinger Group has partnered with Entomological Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation in the US, to teach science through insects with the help of innovative game-based multimedia content.
The product will be designed for third and fourth graders. The objective of the online content is to reflect the Foundation’s mission “to build a future for entomology by educating young people about science through insects” by offering educational interactive activities.
April Gower, executive vice-president of the Foundation, said: “This is a special initiative because educating children about the exciting world of insects and their role in our environment through the use of interactive multimedia activities is quite a challenging task.”
The foundation wants the content to bring out visuals attracting kids followed by easy instructions to ensure learning through fun. Furthermore, the multimedia content should load fast even in slow Internet connections for the children not to lose interest. The interactive games and e-learning activities will be available on the foundations website.
Vikas Joshi, chairman and managing director of Harbinger Group said: “Learning science through insects is a unique concept and applying game-based multimedia method for this is ideal for kids to learn meaningfully in an online environment.”
