Bhubaneswar : A thunder squall followed by a hailstorm hit the Orissa capital Wednesday, uprooting trees and damaging property worth millions.
“The thunder squall with hailstorm hit for five to six minutes in the afternoon,” an official of the Bhubaneswar meteorological office told IANS.
Nearly 100 stalls at a book fair at the city’s exhibition ground were damaged. The storm uprooted several trees in various parts of the city, an eyewitness said.
The weather office has forecast rain and thundershowers at many places of north coastal Orissa for till Thursday.
