Speaking to reporters Tuesday, Moussa stressed the importance of creating a breakthrough in both Arab and regional dimensions for resolving the political stalemate in Lebanon, noting that what was recently reached concerning the crisis was merely some move, rather than a solution.

But he vowed that the Arab League would seek to maintain the possibility of bringing the Lebanese rivals to continuous meetings.

In this context, preparations and arrangements are in full swing for clearing the climate for the forthcoming Arab Summit in Damascus in March, Moussa said.

However, he warned that if no crucial steps were made to resolve the Lebanese crisis, then the situation would become worse.

Asked if Lebanon may not attend the coming Arab meeting, he said, “Lebanon should be represented in the summit as it is a co-founder member of the Arab League. There is no justification for Lebanon’s failure to attend. Nor is there an Arab decision in this respect.”

He added that there would be imminent Arab consultations over the agenda of the next Arab Summit.
