Mexico City : At least 11 people have been killed and two injured when a vehicle fell into a 150 metre deep ravine in the southwestern Mexican state of Michoacan, EFE news agency reported Wednesday.
Though the accident occurred Sunday, the rescue operations only began Monday, a Michoacan state emergency services official said.
The official said cause of the accident in Zitacuaro is yet to be determined but initial reports indicated overspeeding might be the cause.
The injured are in a “very serious” condition at the hospital in Zitacuaro, he added.
Media reports said the accident victims were from the town of Las Anonas.
