UAE, Japan sign pacts to set up joint ventures

Abu Dhabi : The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Japan have signed several economic pacts to boost bilateral trade, said WAM news agency Sunday.

“The UAE was keen on encouraging the private sector to create joint ventures to take advantage of the huge investment potentials in the UAE and Japan,” the news agency quoted crown prince of Abu Dhabi as saying.

Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met Japanese delegation Saturday comprising Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry Akira Amari at Palace Hotel here.

Welcoming the visitors, Sheikh Mohammed lauded the strong ties between the two countries and reiterated UAE’s keenness on further strengthening mutual ties with Japan. He expressed hope that the Japanese minister’s visit would add a new momentum in the collaboration.

Akira Amari praised Sheikh Mohammed’s support for enhancement of the UAE-Japanese relations. He said Japan was keen on expanding the scope of cooperation between public and private sector institutions in both countries.
