Gaza : Deputy Speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) Ahmad Bahar Saturday threatened to punish Israel “for its crimes” against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
“The time to punish the Israeli occupation is getting nearer and nearer,” said Bahar, adding the PLC support the Palestinian militant groups to “strike every possible Israeli target in response to the ongoing aggression and to teach the occupation an unforgettable lesson.”
Calling for an immediate suspension of peace talks with Israel,the deputy speaker instead urged Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to hold urgent contacts to stop the Israeli attacks in Gaza.”We don’t accept that the negotiations go on under the crimes of the occupation,” he stressed.
Israeli army launched offensive in various parts of the Hamas-run Gaza Strip on Jan. 14, since then 37 Palestinians have been killed, among which many are civilians.
