Urdu convention planned in Hyderabad

New Delhi: Friends for Education and All India Urdu Taleemi Committee will organize a 2-day convention in Hyderabad beginning 22 Feb 2008.

Convention is organized to commemorate 50th death anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, first Education Minster of India. Problems of Urdu medium schools will be discussed in this convention. Organizers also planning to propose that Maulan Azad’s death anniversary be celebrate as a symbol of national integration.

Activist for Urdu medium school, Mr. Firoz Bakht Ahmad of Friends for Education said that we want to ensure due rights for Urdu language. Urdu should be promoted as announced by Dr. Manmohan Singh for the 15-point program.

Mr. Ahmad said that for proper development of Urdu language, it is important that vacant posts for Urdu teachers are filled; text books are published and made available to students on time. He also demanded that Urdu Council, Urdu academies and other Urdu organizations be networked and properly funded so that they can work together for Urdu promotion.
