Norway urges Israel to refrain from violating int”l law

GENEVA, Jan 24 (KUNA) — Norway strongly urged Israel on Thursday to show restraint and to refrain from any action that can constitute a violation of international human rights law and humanitarian law.
Addressing the Human Rights Council’s special session today, Ambassador of Norway to the UN in Geneva Bente Anjelle-Hansen said that Norway calls upon all parties to end the violence.
“The measures introduced by the Israeli authorities to punish the entire Gaza population for the actions of militant groups are unacceptable, and such measures are counterproductive,” she added.
She added that Norway has been alarmed by recent events and has strongly urged Israeli authorities to restart fuel supplies and to open the passage for the crossing of humanitarian and commercial supplies.
