Kabul : A US air strike left five Afghan policemen and an undetermined number of civilians dead in Ghariban district, Ghazni province, government sources reported on Thursday.
The Wednesday night air raid was carried out against a police post and some houses in that eastern Afghan locality, said in Kabul Mohammed Khan, a legislator for Ghazni.
According to Khan, several houses were destroyed and the amount of civilian casualties in the US bombing is still unknown.
That Pentagon attack unleashed angry protests among Ghariban residents, who chanted anti US slogans, said the source.
Spokespersons from the US Command said the Army is investigating the incident, and a report will be made public later.
The US Air Force and NATO attacks have caused tens of thousands of deaths among the Afghan civil population since October 2001, when the aggression against the central Asian Islamic nation began.
