Dubai : Secretary-General of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) Prof Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu has strongly condemned the bomb attack at an embassy in Kabul Monday which killed over 40 people and wounded scores more.
In a statement, he said such criminal acts run counter to the teachings of the peaceful religion of Islam.
Lamenting the continuing attacks on innocent persons, Ihsanoglu urged all the people of Afghanistan to support the government in ending the circle of violence in the country.
Reports said a suicide car bomb exploded outside the Indian mission in central Kabul, killing at least 41 people and wounding more than 100 others.
Afghan President Hamid Karzai had condemned the attack, saying that its perpetrators were militants trying to rupture the friendship between Afghanistan and India.
Ihsanoglu urged the authorities to bring the culprits to justice and conveyed his condolences to the families of the victims as well as to the government and people of Afghanistan.
He reaffirmed the solidarity of the OIC with Afghanistan in its struggle against all forms of extremism and terrorism, the statement added.
