Motaki, at a joint news conference with his Turkish counterpart Ali Babacan, welcomed the participation of the US in the talks over Iranian nuclear file in Geneva Saturday.

He said the participation of US undersecretary of state William Burns as positive and a positive change in the US policy.

Babacan said Turkey opposed nuclear armament in the Middle East region.

He said in remarks earlier today that Turkey insisted on dialogue to tackle the nuclear conflict between Iran and the big Western countries.

Iran’s chief nuclear negotiator Ali Jalili is to meet EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana in Geneva tomorrow with Burns participating.

Turkey has been active diplomatically with its role regarding Iran’s nuclear file. Ankara is also sponsoring indirect talks between Damascus and Tel Aviv.
