Jammu : Two Pakistani soldiers who were arrested after they strayed into Jammu and Kashmir were handed over to the Pakistan Army Thursday “as a goodwill gesture”, officials said.
The Pakistani soldiers were caught after they crossed the Line of Control (LOC) to the Indian part of Jammu and Kashmir Wednesday.
They were spotted at Pallanwala sector, about 50 km west of Jammu. They were identified as a havaldar and a sepoy from 66 Baloch Regiment.
The Indian Army interrogated them to ascertain if they had entered India by mistake.
On Thursday afternoon, the spokesman for the Indian Army’s 16 Corps, Lt. Col. Bikram Singh, told reporters: “Two Pakistani soldiers who had inadvertently strayed across to the Indian side were handed over to the Pakistan Army at a flag meeting as a goodwill gesture.”
