Ghaziabad : A lawyer who had been locked in a property dispute was stabbed to death here as he stepped out of his home to go to a mosque for Friday prayers, the police said.
Kunwar Mohammad Yunus, 45, a resident of Jawahar Nagar at Sahibabad, was overpowered and attacked by four men who were waiting for him. They fled after killing him.
The bleeding lawyer was rushed to the New Delhi-based Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital where he succumbed to his multiple stabbing injuries.
Police Circle Officer S.P. Singh said the lawyer had a dispute over a plot of land in Sahibabad, close to the Indian capital. He went to court and won the case.
Another officer said that Friday’s incident indicated that “the opposite party in the dispute might be behind the murder”.
