Noida : Krishna, the compounder of arrested dentist Rajesh Talwar, was Saturday remanded by a court in three days’ Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) custody in connection with the Noida twin murders.
The CBI had sought 14 days’ custody of Krishna saying it was needed to recover the weapon used in the May 15 night murders, the missing mobile phones and blood stained clothes, in addition to the arrest of other accomplices on his tip off.
Meanwhile, the CBI Saturday cordoned off the Noida house of the Talwars and thoroughly checked the water tanks on the terrace and the water pipes to search for the missing weapon with which teenager Aarushi Talwar and her domestic help Hemraj were murdered a month ago.
According to CBI sources, the agency received an anonymous tip off about the murder weapon, now believed to be a khukri, a curved short knife. The Noida Police had earlier said the murders were committed with a surgical knife.
The probe agency officials were accompanied by a forensic team from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) when they visited the L-32 house of the Talwars in Jal Vayu Vihar. Rajesh Talwar is under arrest for alleged involvement in the May 15 night double murders.
Krishna was arrested Friday evening by the probe agency on the basis of narco analysis and lie detector tests conducted on him in Bangalore.
Meanwhile, another CBI team visited the house of Anita Durrani, a dentist colleague of Rajesh Talwar with whom he was allegedly into a relationship. CBI sleuths conducted a thorough search of the Noida home of the Durranis and sealed the room of their servant, Raj Kumar, who is under CBI custody. They questioned Anita and her husband Praful Durrani once again – separately and together.
The CBI had visited the Durrani house late Friday night too and interrogated the servant, who was close to Hemraj, the murdered domestic help of the Talwars.
According to CBI sources, Raj Kumar had mentioned that three people were involved in the murders of Aarushi and Hemraj,
CBI sources said more arrests are likely in the sensational case.
CBI Joint Director Arun Kumar, who led the search in Talwar’s residence, tried to recreate the timing of the crime. He went from L-14, the home of Krishna, to L-32 of the Talwars, through the terrace.
The investigators also questioned guards, security supervisors and a garbage collector. Talwar, who is in Dasna Jail in Ghaziabad, is to be put through a psychological test again to “reconstruct” the crime scene. He underwent a similar test Friday.
CBI sources also revealed that an industrialist friend of the Talwars and the Durranis is to be put through a lie detector test. The industrialist, who works with Flex Industries, had lent his car to the Talwars in which they went to Haridwar to cremate Aarushi.
Aarushi, 14, was found dead in her Noida home on May 16 morning. While police initially named missing domestic help Hemraj as the main suspect, they found his body on the terrace of the house the next day. Rajesh Talwar was arrested May 23 as a prime suspect.
In the Ghaziabad court where Krishna was produced Saturday, defence counsel F.C. Sharma said Krishna was under illegal detention with the CBI for the past more than 10 days. The CBI had no option but to produce him before the court after the media highlighted the issue.
The defence counsel asked what else the CBI wanted to know after it had conducted a series of scientific tests, including brain mapping, narco analysis test and lie detector test on Krishna. Sharma asked that Krishna be discharged immediately.
The court after hearing arguments from both sides, granted CBI Krishna’s custody for three days.
Krishna’s sister Parvati, his maternal uncle Prem and a cousin were present in court. Parvati said: “Krishna had under Lord Sai Baba’s oath told me that he had not done anything. The CBI is falsely implicating him in the murders. After saying this, Krishna broke down.”
Krishna’s family had Friday approached the National Human Rights Commission to protest against his detention and also visited the Nepal embassy in New Delhi.
