New Delhi : A 50-year-old man was stabbed to death by two men in Vivek Vihar area of east Delhi, police said Saturday.
The two suspects, Kale and Bheem, who are brothers, went to Balwinder’s shop and reportedly demanded Rs.100 from him as protection money. When Balwinder refused to pay, the two started beating him up, police said.
Balwinder was injured and was rushed to the Hegdewar Hospital for treatment. The two fled the spot after a crowd gathered there.
Balwinder’s father Gurcharan, who was not present there at the time of the incident, rushed to the hospital to meet his son.
“Balwinder was discharged after preliminary medication. However, when the father-son duo was returning home from the hospital last night (Friday night), the accused again intercepted and one of them attacked Balwinder. When Gurcharan intervened to save his son, one of the two men stabbed Gurcharan in his abdomen,” a police officer said.
Gurcharan died of excessive bleeding on way to the hospital.
The two suspects have several cases of theft and other offences registered against them.
The two brothers, one of them a call centre employee, were absconding.
