Aligarh: A six-member committee of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has endorsed the proposal for the establishment of “Sir Syed International Centre for Advanced Study and Research at AMU.
The committee constituted by the Executive Council of AMU has submitted its report to the Vice Chancellor Prof. P.K. Abdul Azis. The main objective of this proposed centre would be to promote creative thought in areas which have deep human significance and to provide an environment suitable for academic research in all those aspects which were dear to the founder of the university, Sir Syed.
The centre will cover wide issues including Indian composite culture, evolution of Muslim culture and civilization, contribution of Muslims to national Freedom Movement, secularism and patriotism, comparative religion, comparative languages and literatures, linguistic conflict in modern Indian languages and contribution of Urdu literature to national resurgence.
