Day four of protests in Kashmir: CRPF Dy SP, 2 SHO’s among 110 injured in clashes

Jammu/Srinagar: At least one hundred and ten civilians including forty nine security personnel were injured as the protests against the transfer of Land to the Sri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), police firing hits normal life on fourth consecutive day today across Kashmir valley.

Reports reveal that about one hundred and ten people including forty nine policemen and a CRPF DY SP have received minor and critical injures across the valley today.

About fifteen persons including a CRPF officer and several police personnel were admitted with critical injuries in SKIMS, sources claim and said that some ambulances were also attacked during the day long battles in the Srinagar city and other towns of the valley.

Four police officers including SHO Sheir-Gadi Police station, BSF, CRPF and police personnel also receive critical injuries during the day long clashes.

One Mohd Rafiq Panjra son of Ghulam Hassan Panjra of Kutubdin pora Rajouri Kadal, Srinagar was critically injured when security forces allegedly opened fire on a group of protestors at Rajouri Kadal.

A CRPF DySP identified as Shiv Charan Meena was injured critically when protestors turned violent and resorted to stone pelting in downtown area during the evening hours.

As the violence spread to other parts of the Kashmir Valley Police and paramilitary forces have been dispatched to major and minor towns of Budgam, Pulwama, Anantnag, Baramulla and Bandipore districts and the strike crippled life in the valley.

However police handout said that twenty two people including 6 police men were injured in the street clashes through out the valley but sources claim that the number of injured has reached above hundred.

In Srinagar, slogan-shouting people took to the streets in different localities and throw stones on the police and paramilitary personnel deployed for maintaining law and order in the city on Thursday.

Police and CRPF used force and fire tear smoke shells in Rajbagh, Nowhatta, Nawakadal, Jamalata, Hazratbal, Lal Bazar, Parimpora, Ali Kadal and other localities in Srinagar to disperse the mobs.

In Jamal Lata area three people were critically injured in police firing, however police denied the reports and said that warning shots were fired in air to disperse the protesters in the locality.

A young boy, Zeeshan Ahmed son of Bashir Ahmed of Kawdara was injured when he received bullet injury in his own locality was reportedly battling between life and death at SKIMS. At least eight other protestors were injured in the dig dong battle between the troops and the protestors in the same locality.

The situation in Ganderbal district remained volatile as protestors again blocked the roads heading to Holy Cave. The mobs also throw stones on police personnel and vehicles carrying pilgrims to the Amarnath shrine, sources told News Agency of Kashmir.

“Window panes of several vehicles were damaged by the protesters at Nunar, Duderhama, Saloora, Theru, Barsoo and Kurhama in Ganderbal district” sources told NAK adding a dozen people were reportedly injured in hour’s long ding dong battle between the police and public.

People in all the small and big towns of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district hold protest demonstrations and dozens of them were injured in police action. Security forces allegedly opened fire on protestor’s injuring one person, identified as Bilal Sofi son of Bashir Sofi of Deva Colony Anantnag.

About two hundred people marched through various streets of Pulwama town and Shopian districts and force the closure of shops and businesses. “Situation in other small villages was also reported to be tense” sources said. Reports from adjacent areas said the situation was tense.

In Doru where people held protest demonstrations, a CRPF jawans gun went off accidentally; however, no one was injured in the accident.

Meanwhile government has deployed more forces along all the routes heading to Amarnath cave.

Meanwhile, government today ordered closure of all schools and colleges in the Srinagar city till 28th June.

The Shops and business establishments reportedly remain closed in Pattan and Bandipore towns in north Kashmir with people protesting against killing of three civilians.

In the late evening a handout issued by the police said that twenty two persons including six police men, one CRPF man and a tourist were injured in different incidents.

The injured as per the police handout have been identified as Reyaz Ahmad Bhat, son of Gh. Mohd, resident of Shopian at Noorbagh; Irshad Ahmad khan, son of Gh. Rashid Khanday, son of Ab. Satar, resident of Rampora Chattabal at Cement Kadal; Owais Ahmad Dar, son of Gh. Ahmad Dar, resident of Rainawari; Shabir Ahmad, son of Habibullah, resident of Kupwara; Javed Ahmad, resident of Harvan; Farooq Ahmad, resident of Shalbug Ganderbal; Showkat Ahmad Bhat, resident of Pattan Baramulla; Sajad Ahmad, son of Bashir Ahmad, resident of Mazgund; Zeeshan Bashir, son of Bashir Ahmad, resident of Dalipora Kawdara; Mohd Rafiq, son of Gh.
