Kabul : One soldier of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) was killed in an explosion while on a security patrol in southern Afghan province of Helmand on Saturday, said an ISAF statement released here on Sunday.
It occurred in the Lashkar Gha district of Helmand where the ISAF soldiers on patrol with Afghan security forces were struck by explosion, it said.
It is ISAF policy to not release the nationality of any casualty prior to the relevant national authority doing so.
A total of 70,000 multi-national troops are deployed across Afghanistan under the flags of the NATO-led ISAF and the U.S.-led Coalition forces respectively for maintaining stability and helping in reconstruction.
Escalating insurgency and violent incidents have left around 2,000 people dead since January this year in the war-torn Afghanistan.
