Indian athlete Rajeev misses Olympic qualification mark

London : India’s Rajeev Ramesan missed the Olympic qualification mark by a whisker in the 800 metres at the Nike Grand Prix held at Solihull by the British Milers Club.

Rajeev ran his personal best timing of 1:47.06 secs to win the race but it was just 0.06 secs out of the ” B” qualification mark. Another Indian in the race, Sajeesh Joseph, finished third with 1:47.48 secs.

In the men’s 5,000m, Surendra Singh won the gold with a personal best timing of 13:45.77 secs.

Earlier, Preeja Sreedharan who has already qualified for the Olympics in 10,000 m dominated the 5,000 m race with an easy victory and personal best timing of 15:45.61 secs.

Asian champion, Sinimole Paulose ran her season’s best of 4:11.64 secs in the women’s 1,500 m. She finished second behind Stephanie Twell of England.
