Chouhan does not own a car. The chief minister’s assets worth Rs.3.78 million are less than the assets owned by his wife, which totals Rs.5.73 million. He tabled detail of assets possessed by him and his family in the assembly Friday.

The move is seen as a bid to counter former chief minister Digvijay Singh’s charge that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government lacked transparency.

Digvijay Thursday said the BJP ministers were not following the tradition set during the previous Congress government to submit details of the property owned by all ministers in the assembly.

Chouhan has a Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) policy with Rs.6,616 as annual premium, his two sons have LIC policies with Rs.10,610 annual premium, National Saving Certificates (NSC) worth Rs.60,000, gold ornaments weighing 64 gm, household goods worth Rs.180,000 and bank deposits of Rs.785,000.

The assets owned by his wife Sadhna Singh include an Ambassador car worth Rs.153,000, LIC policy with Rs.6,287 annual premium, NSC worth Rs.20,000, gold ornaments weighing 470 grams and bank deposits of Rs.415,000.
