Sambhal (U.P.): Indian Turks should learn from their past and magnificent culture and civilization and, while learning other languages, they should not forget the Turkish language, said Turkish ambassador in India.
Ambassador Khaleel Akunji was speaking at the International Turk Conference held at Sambhal Municipal Board Ground in Sambhal under the auspices of Masawat Indian Turk Welfare Association. On the occasion, Safeer Asfar Ahmad’s book “Turki aur Urdu Zuban ke Mushtarak Alfaz” was also released by the Turkish ambassador. The ambassador called upon the educated people to do their best to preserve their cultural values and history.
Addressing the gathering, Ambassador of Azerbaijan Tamerlen Krayo said bilateral relations between India and Azerbaijan had always been good. Turks have carried out numerous works in India. He said Azerbaijan’s Turkish architecture is clearly visible in Taj Mahal. Prof. Ahmad Ogor of the Turkish department of Jamia Millia Islamia said Urdu language had several Turkish words now commonly used in both languages. Member of Parliament Dr. Shafiqur Rahman Birq said Turks taught the lesson of unity and progress to Indian states which were divided in different tribes. In this way, they laid the foundation of a united India.
