“We congratulate both the Indian cricket team and the under-19 team,” said Speaker Aalamgir Aalam. He also praised Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni and under-19 team member Saurav Tewary.

India defeated Australia in Brisbane to clinch the Commonwealth Bank triangular series Tuesday and the under-19 cricket team won the World Cup by defeating South Africa.

Dhoni belongs to Ranchi while Tewary hails from Jamshedpur. Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda has announced that Tewary will be honoured for his outstanding performance in under-19 cricket tournament. “We will honour Tewary when he arrives in Jharkhand,” he said.

People of Jharkhand feel proud as the state has produced two great players in cricket. “Jharkhand has produced scores of national and international level players in cricket, hockey, archery and in other sports,” said former chief minister Arjun Munda.
