Beijing : China has set up a state level organisation to ensure the security of the forthcoming Olympics in Beijing, a senior official of the Games’ organising committee said Wednesday.
The unit groups the ministry of state security, the ministry of public security and armed forces, while plans have been drawn for any emergencies during the event, said Liu Jingmin, executive vice president of the Beijing Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (BOCOG) and vice mayor of Beijing.
China has also enhanced exchanges and coordination with foreign security organizations, and stepped up trainings for security staff, Liu, who is also a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), said on the sidelines of the annual session of the top political advisory body.
“We believe security could be ensured during the Beijing Olympic Games,” he said.
