Patna : An old woman was beaten to death in a Bihar village on suspicion of practising witchcraft, the police said Thursday.
Sugiya Devi, in her 80s, was beaten to death by two men in Sanda village under Amba police station in Aurangabad district, about 120 km from the state capital here.
The victim’s family members lodged a case at the police station Wednesday.
The police said investigation into the case has begun and action would be taken.
Instances of poor women being targeted in the name of witchcraft are on the rise in Bihar. In the last few months several such cases were reported from across the state.
