Beirut : Lebanese House Speaker Nabih Berri has postponed a parliamentary session dedicated for the election of a new president of the republic scheduled Tuesday to April 25 amid continued deadlock between rival political leaders.
The Speaker’s Office announced the postponement of the 17th session Monday after the Lebanese political leaders failed once again to reach a political solution that would facilitate the process of electing a president.
Lebanon has been without a president since November when Emile Lahoud’s term ended. The political crisis is the worst since the country’s 1975-1990 civil war.
