55 countries to participate in Abu Dhabi oil meet

Abu Dhabi : More than 1,400 exhibitors from 55 countries will participate in the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference 2008 (ADIPEC) Nov 3-6, WAM news agency reported Monday.

The exhibition is one of the world’s largest oil and gas events in which major national and international oil companies and manufacturers of related equipment take part.

ADIPEC was launched in 1984 and is supported by the United Arab Emirates (UAE)’s Ministry of Energy. The event is being organised under the patronage of President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nayhan.

The inaugural event will be held at the newly completed Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), the organisers said in a statement.

ADIPEC 2008 is expecting to host between 35,000 to 40,000 industry executives who are spearheading the growth and development of the global oil and gas industry, said Project Manager Ashok Pillai.

The four-day event will host two unique events: “Energy 2030” and “Energy Investment Summit”.

The Energy 2030 event will also see the launch of the first Alternative Energy Awards.

More than 200 international speakers, researchers and experts from across the world are expected to participate.
