Nalchik : The president of the Russian Football Union (RFS) Vitaly Mutko said that the adoption of the concept for the federal targeted programme for the development of football in Russia in 2008-2015 was “a real breakthrough”.

He believes that “the signature of the prime minister of Russia under the concept is apolitical signal to regions about the need to adopt similar local programmes”.

According to Mutko, 500 new football fields and 11 to 12 indoor sport centres will be built under the programme in the next three to four years, Russia’s Itar-Tass news agency reported Saturday.

“We need to create 200 centres for the professional training of football players that will work toward results,” Mutko said, adding that one of such centres would be built in Nalchik.

“We will create such centres in cities and districts that develop football,” he said.

He also believes it necessary to separate professional football players’ training from mass sport activities.

While on a visit in Kabardino-Bakkaria, Mutko opened three football fields with synthetic covering in Baksan and Nalchik.

He also attended a Russian championship game between Spartak Nalchik and the football club Moskva.
