Ahmedabad : The Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Gujarat police conducted searches in 35 different cyber cafes in Ahmedabad and booked 11 cafe owners for violating rules and not maintaining records of surfers, the police said here Friday.
The drive comes in wake of increased vigilance after the Jaipur blasts. A cyber cafe owner in Ghaziabad was held after a group calling itself ‘Indian Mujahideen’ sent e-mails to media from his cafe, claiming responsibilty for the Jaipur blasts.
The SOG has charged the 11 cafe owners with not maintaining proper records of the surfers in violation of the licence rules.
The campaign against such cafe owners in the city would continue, the police said.
