The Bangalore Open is to be played at the 7,000-seat KSLTA Signature Kingfisher Tennis Stadium. Mumbai hosted the event the past two years, two weeks earlier in the season calendar, after taking over the event from Ho Chi Minh City.

Bangalore also hosts a women’s tournament in March. The men last played there at the 2000 World Doubles Championships.

“When the tournament moved from Ho Chi Minh to Mumbai, we had the aim of growing tennis further on the sub-continent and we are happy with the success that we have achieved here in Mumbai,” said Indian player Mahesh Bhupathi, a winner of four Grand Slam doubles titles.

“Moving the tournament to Bangalore will give mens tennis another opportunity to spread its wings in India and I am very much looking forward to playing in my home city,” he said.
