Moscow : Russian Duma (Parliament) is working on the configuration of a commission to fight corruption, as reported by legislative sources Tuesday.
One day before promulgation of a presidential decree to face corruption, Russian Duma president Boris Grizlov announced they were preparing the creation of a special group to guarantee the support of the Russian deputies to the government plan.
“It is all about complementing the struggle against corruption with a legislative dimension,” Grizlov told the local press.
At the end of the meeting of the Duma presidential council Grizlov pointed out that the commission will be comprised on the equality principles, and the presence of representatives of the four fractions of the Russian Parliament.
In relation to the functions of the commission, Grizlov, a historical leader from government United Russia said he would make a deep inquiry on the law projects subjected to the consideration of the Duma with an anticorruption critical approach.
The topic is included in the calendar of the ordinary session of the Lower Chamber, fixed for Wednesday.
The projected commission will preserve its abilities in the course of the fifth legislature until December 2011 and it will be integrated by 12 deputies, according to Grizlov.
