A man driving an explosive-laden car detonated the bomb next to the Collation’s military base at around 11 a.m. local time, casualties feared, Zadran told Xinhua.

The press office of U.S.-led Coalition forces, when approached by Xinhua, just said “There was an incident in Khost province” and did not give more information.

However, Zabihullah Mujahid who claims to speak for the Taliban insurgent told media from undisclosed location that the Taliban carried out the attack against the Coalition forces and inflicting casualties.

He said a Taliban loyalist drove an explosive-laden Russian Jeep and exploded it next to the military base of the Afghan and Coalition troops center, “killing 11 Afghan police and seven foreign soldiers.”

However, the figure could not be independently verified as the anti-government militants usually exaggerate the casualties inflicted on their targets.
