“During the forum, Lee will ask the international community to support and cooperate with the country’s defense policies while giving a keynote speech under the title of ‘Defense Policy in the Era of Uncertainty: South Korea’s view’,” the ministry said in a statement.

Lee, who is set to return on Monday, plans to hold bilateral talks with his counterparts from Japan, Britain, France, Singapore, Australia and Mongolia, the ministry said.

Lee will also meet with security experts, including U.S. Senator Joseph Lieberman, during the three-day Asia Security Summit, or the Shangri-La Dialogue, the ministry said.

“The ministry believes Minister Lee’s attendance at this year’s Asia Security Summit will help improve the international community’s understanding of our defense policy while also helping expand military exchanges and cooperation with key nations of the Asia-Pacific region,” said the ministry.
