Ahmedabad : Gujarat State Road Transport Corp earned a record single day income of Rs.55.4 million Nov 3 on La Pancham, the fifth day of the new year, according to the Hindu calender.
GSRTC’s daily income last crossed the Rs.50-million mark in 2005 and 2007.
On Nov 12, 2005, GSRTC earned Rs.50.6 million while the single day income touched Rs.51.1 million Nov 26, 2007, GSRTC secretary P.D. Patel said.
Patel said during Diwali, GSRTC operated extra 3,173 trips, which led to an additional income of Rs.10.34 million.
“In the four days beginning Diwali, the total income has been Rs.151. million,” he said.
GSRTC runs 6,800 buses daily that make 42,000 trips carrying about 2.4 million passengers.
