“The election of Barack Obama as the next president of the United States indicates that Zionists are no longer able to carry out their own policies aimed at determining the fate of the world,” the MP told IRNA.

Obama’s election is an opportunity for making changes, he said, urging the US president-elect to make use of such an opportunity to amend the past wrong policies.

He regretted that the US President George Bush made big mistakes in economic and political areas over the past eight years.

By correcting mistakes of Bush’s administration, Obama should portray a positive image of himself, the MP added.

The hegemonic and aggressive policies of Bush created a negative atmosphere against the US, he said, urging Obama to correct Washington’s big mistakes regarding occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq.

Haji-Babaei, who is also a member of Majlis National
Security and Foreign Policy Commission, expressed hope that Obama would pursue the policy of interaction with other countries.

He said that all world countries are affected by the US economic crisis while it has the least influence on Iran’s economy.

Since Iran’s economy is independent and based on know-how, the US sanctions have no impact on economic situation in Iran, he said, adding that the US has confessed that its sanctions against Iran have been failed.

“The election of Obama should make Americans and world nations understand that Iran is an influential country in the region and in the entire globe,” he stressed.
