Dharamsala : Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama has reached this north India hill town as the exiled leadership of the Tibetans is to hold its biggest meeting in five decades here starting Monday to decide the future of the Tibetan movement against Chinese rule, his aide said Sunday.
The six-day session will be held at McLeodganj near here from Nov 17 to discuss the future of the Tibetan movement.
“The spiritual guru reached his official palace Saturday after spending some days in the capital,” Tenzin Taklha, a senior aide to the exiled leader, told IANS.
The session was called by the government-in-exile at the behest of the spiritual guru.
“However, the Dalai Lama is not attending the session of exiles,” Taklha said.
“He (the Dalai Lama) does not want to influence his opinion (on the Tibet movement) by participating or addressing the meeting,” he added.
The Dalai Lama has lived in India since fleeing his homeland in 1959. His government-in-exile, which is based here, is not recognised by any country.
