The US ambassador, Anne Patterson, was summoned at the Foreign Office and a protest was formally lodged, said Foreign Minister for State Malik Amad Khan while speaking on a point in the National Assembly.

He said Pakistan has expressed its serious concerns over predator strikes in tribal areas along Afghan border.

A Foreign Office statement said that the protest was lodged by Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir. He told the US ambassador that these attacks were doing nothing but adding to complexities of Pakistani government.

The Foreign Secretary said that the objectives of War on Terror cannot be achieved through these attacks. However, the US ambassador said it is US government which takes likes of decisions.

In latest US missile attack in the Bannu town at least six militants were killed.

Purportedly, a key Al-Qaeda militant of Arab origin was also among the killed.

The US has intensified missile attacks in Pakistani bordering tribal region despite repeated protests by Islamabad. The Washington has said that the attacks are being carried out under a tacit understanding with Islamabad.

However, Pakistani military has rejected the notion saying only its forces are allowed to conducted operation in the territory.

Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani speaking on a point in the National Assembly said that there was no understanding with US over drone attacks.

He said that army would not take any step against the government and the democracy, adding that the National Security Adviser was in regular touch with him over situation arising after predator strikes in tribal areas.

He said further that in the US, the process of transfer of power is in process and that the solution of this issue could face some delay.
